I taught first grade for twenty-five years, and have since retired to write and travel full-time. I have been very busy visiting schools across America, reading my stories, and inspiring thousands of children to read more on their own -- and to write more as well!

Little Bitty Mousie by Jim Aylesworth Since 1980 over thirty of my picture books have been published.  My newest title, Little Bitty Mousie is now available from Walker Books for Young Readers.  Michael Hague created the wonderfully realistically drawn and colored illustrations touched with fantasy.  Read the review from Kirkus and School Library Journal.
 Some of my more recent titles include: The Tale of Tricky Fox (Scholastic Press) -- a trickster tale; and The Burger and the Hot Dog (Atheneum) -- a "riotous romp of culinary characters," Naughty Little Monkeys (Dutton) and Goldilocks and the Three Bears (Scholastic).
